2021 Roussanne, Stolpman Vineyard
BALLARD CANYON AVA | SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
The 2021 Roussanne shows aromatics of white flowers, orange zest, and melon. Richly textured on the palate, flavors include honeysuckle and peaches and cream. A clean wine, gaining complexity on the finish, with a wet stone mineral quality. Our Roussanne has a history of aging gracefully and should develop more honey and nutty characteristics over time.
Reviews
Jeb Dunnuck 90 points ~ The 2021 Roussanne Stolpman Vineyard, which comes from a great site at the top of Ballard Canyon, offers a richer style in its orchard fruits, buttered almond, brioche, and chalky rock-like aromas and flavors. It's nicely textured, medium-bodied, with well-integrated acidity and a clean, lengthy finish. It will shine on the dinner table and, I suspect, have 4-6 years, if not upwards of a decade of longevity. Maturity 2023-2030. — Jeb Dunnuck
Vinous 91 points ~ The 2021 Roussanne Stolpman Vineyard is an elegant, classy white. Orchard fruit, mint, tangerine peel, apricot pit and dried herbs all run through this nervy, taut Roussanne. The 2021 feels just a touch compact, but it is nicely done just the same. Drinking window 2023-2026. — Antonio Galloni
2020 Roussanne, Stolpman Vineyard
Wine Enthusiast 91 points ~ Crushed stone, tangerine pith, white flower, peach, and a hint of lanolin show on the layered nose of this bottling. There's a stony minerality and firm tension to the palate where dried apple and pear flavors ride a sizzling acidity into a vanilla-inflected finish. — Matt Kettmann

2018 Roussanne, Stolpman Vineyard
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Points ~ The 2018 Roussanne Stolpman is less aromatic (which is common for this variety) yet offers beautiful richness and depth, with honeyed stone fruits and spice, medium to full body, beautiful balance, and a great finish. It's another winner. Maturity unavailable. — Jeb Dunnuck
Vinous 93 Points ~ The 2018 Roussanne Stolpman Vineyard is another superb white from Jaffurs. Rich and creamy, the 2018 exudes class. Savory herbs, orchard fruit, dried flowers and sage give the 2018 layers of complexity to match its phenolic feel. Drinking window 2020-2025. — Antonio Galloni.
