Reviews
Jeb Dunnuck 94 points ~ The Rhône-like blend from this estate, the 2021 High Tide checks in as 60% Mourvèdre and 20% each Grenache and Syrah from the Thompson, Stolpman, and Larner vineyards. Its medium ruby hue gives way to a darker fruited, spicy, medium to full-bodied red with a layered, mouth-filling texture, plenty of peppery, herbal, underbrush-like nuances, ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish. The texture on this beauty is top-notch, and the wine displays the balanced, harmonious style of the vintage beautifully. — Jeb Dunnuck
Vinous 92 points ~ The 2021 High Tide is a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Syrah. Bright floral and earthy overtones meld into a core of bright, red-toned fruit. The 2021 is perhaps not quite as ample as some previous years, but it makes up for that with its energy and vibrancy. Drinking window 2023-2029. — Antonio Galloni

The palate snaps with a bright red fruit kick that's coated in a woodspice flavor, with firm texture into the finish. — Matt Kettmann

Vinous 94 points ~ The 2020 High Tide, Jaffurs's 60% Mourvedre, 20% Syrah, 20% Grenache is gorgeous. Succulent dark cherry, plum, leather, spice, and menthol all flesh out with a bit of aeration. The 2020 is impeccably balanced, not to mention incredibly delicious. Drinking window 2024-2034. — Antonio Galloni
Jeb Dunnuck 92 points ~ The 2020 High Tide is 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, and 20% Syrah that was 25% destemmed and spent 18 months in neutral barrels. It's a solid step up over the Grenache, offering beautiful darker berry fruits as well as violets, tons of peppery herbs, and some foresty, earthy nuances. Balanced and medium to full-bodied, with wonderful purity, it's a gem that will keep for 7-8 years, probably longer. — Jeb Dunnuck
Wine Enthusiast 93 points Editors' Choice ~ This blend of 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, and 20% Syrah reveals itself over the hours, showcasing a fresh while funky character. It begins with aromas of baked cherry, wet concrete, and singed tobacco on the nose. The palate is tight at first, then opens toward strawberry-sorbet and charcuterie touches. — Matt Kettmann
2017 High Tide, Santa Barbara County
Jeb Dunnuck 92 points ~ The 2017 High Tide Santa Barbara County checks in as close to equal parts Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre that saw plenty of stems and 18 months in 17% new French oak. This meaty, spicy blend offers a deep purple hue, notes of spiced blackberries, crushed violets, and peppery spice, medium-bodied richness, ripe tannins, and a well-balanced, concentrated style that's going to evolve nicely for 7-8 years or more.
